foggy

I don’t have a clear vision on where I’m going this week, and yet I do. Part of me wants to do a post that is very encouraging and will make you feel very warm and fuzzy inside. Then there is a part of me that wants to write something that is highly controversial that will frustrate you and challenge you and press you to ask deep questions about why you believe God is who He says He is and why you believe He can do what He says He can do.

God loves you without question, and Paul teaches us in Romans that absolutely nothing can separate us from the love of Christ. How huge is that? Absolutely nothing can separate you from the love of Christ. If someone can jump in there and show me where that means something can separate you, then please let me know. That should take care of the warm fuzzy part.

Now about the other part. My parents sent an update yesterday on Father’s Day. They shared about a young lady who died this past week. Here’s the excerpt from the e-mail.

A friend of ours in another village introduced us to a young 16 year old girl name Fatou. When we met her she weighed 60 pounds. David and our friend took her to the hospital several times hoping that doctors could discover what was wrong with her. We saw her last Sunday and again on Wednesday. We received word on Thursday that she had just died. Please pray for her family. Pray that her death would open doors for us to share the Gospel with her family.

Why does this happen? I’ve been so consumed with the trivial matters of my own life over the past couple of weeks and yet this tragedy is happening all over the place around the world. Once again I’m sitting in my office weeping and wondering how I’m going to allow this to shape me and change me.

And now a song comes on my i-tunes (unplanned) that says, “its by Your hand I have been formed/So what am I gonna do with this life You gave me/ What could I do but live for Your praise?

Mom and Dad, I hope that I don’t cause you any trouble by doing this, but I’m going to post your prayer requests on here. So for the rest of you reading this, will you weep and pray for these names with me?

This month, we would just like to give you some names to pray for as often as you think of them. These are friends that we see often and we would like to share the Gospel with them. Fatou’s death brings us face to face with the reality that every one of these people are headed for an eternal separation from God.

  1. I’m with ya

  2. Thank you for including the post about Fatou. She was a precious girl who knew she was going to die. We have lots of sweet memories of her. One of the sweetest was when she sang “God is So Good” (in her language) on the way to the hospital. Thanks for mentioning the other prayer requests also.
