Update

August 21, 2008

Dear Family and Friends,

It’s been a while since we’ve sent an update. These past few months have been very busy for us. We were able to spend a week in I. C.t with all of our co-workers from W. A. It was truly a time of encouragement and refreshment as we were able to hear about what God is doing around WA. There are great things going on. Our time of worship while we were there was especially sweet. We heard challenging messages from Dr. A., a young professor at SBTS.

Yesterday, T. and K. (our partners) and I took a horse cart to the village. D. was busy working on our other job. We decided we were uncomfortable driving our cars into the village where the common mode of transportation is the cheapest: by foot. We got there and began our trek toward our destination. K. heard that a friend of hers had moved to an unfinished house not so far away and we wanted to visit her. Her husband, a fisherman, came in not long after we got there. He was supposed to be fishing, but something didn’t work out and he came home. T. had an opportunity to share three chapters of Genesis with this man and a friend of his. They were both devouring the Scripture. The ladies that were present at the time were interested in their conversations, but didn’t enter into the discussion. At the end of the day, we set up a time to begin teaching the ladies the stories of the Bible. Please pray for N, A, and C. Pray that they will continue to be interested in the Scripture and that their hearts will be softened to accept the Gospel. It was raining when we left on foot; but we were so excited about the doors God had opened we reveled in the rain. We passed up two horse carts before we finally hopped on one that took us home.

Requests:

  • The three ladies mentioned above
  • Team from Fville, VA that will be here September 13-21. Pray for God to lead them to people who are open to hear the Gospel. Pray for their translators. Pray for boldness.
  • The believers to grow in their faith.
  • Leaders to develop so that a church can start.

Thank you for your prayers.
