Cindy Wall Celebration

No funeral took place yesterday afternoon. A celebration took place. Don’t get me wrong, there were no streamers or party hats, but a celebration took place. People still cried, and there was certainly sadness, but I can tell you that there was a peace about that place like few others I’ve attended. Cindy Wall will certainly be missed, but she has taught me a lesson about leaving a lasting legacy that begins with loving others.

Kim Scarborough said that very thing as she remembered Cindy and her comment is still ringing in my ears. “We love Him because He first loved us” (1 John 4.19). Kim said that Cindy embodied this, that is, the reason that we all loved Cindy is because she first loved us and asked for nothing in return. That’s where we must live at, ceasing our striving for others to love us and accept us, and just love other people.

Just a quick thank you to several people that made yesterday happen, I know that none of you is asking for this, but yesterday would not have worked so quickly and smoothly the way it did without people serving. There were so many that were running around getting things accomplished, and I hesitate to do this, because I’m sure I’m going to leave someone off, but here goes.

Heath Spurlock, Scott Fillmer, Andi Longest, Jack and Amy Fisher, Lynn and Buddy Blount, John Biblis, Brenda Conner, Pat Sweeney, Dan King, Jodi Harris, Gail Thomas, Rusty Hustson and Josh Agerton. I know ther are so many more, but that’s what’s popping in my head right now. Thank you guys. Its a joy to serve with you.

For those of you who read this and can think of other people who I missed, please add them in the comment section.

  1. it certainly was a celebration of life, her life, and was very fitting for Cindy. What amazes me is how much more I have learned about her each day leading up to her service. She served before she even knew to serve, and all from her heart. Incredible example and testimony.

  2. You are welcome. And You did a great job with the music/worship. It was an honor to serve. I didn’t hang out with Cindy much- but I know I will miss seeing her and getting her nice emails… She was a great beautiful sister in Christ!
Props to Robin Duke and Marcia Gibson for behind the scenes work too. And Chick Fil A (Spencer) for donating some food.
