DWYL

I told you about the “Don’t Waste Your Life” journals that my parents got me for my birthday. It took me about two weeks to finally write in the first one. Ironically, I didn’t want to waste the first page or write anything that was surface level, so I waited two weeks before putting pen to paper. That may be the very definition of wasting.

I committed to some things this morning after spending some time reading and I’m going to commit to this stuff publicly so that you get to hold me accountable. I want to know the Scriptures initmately, which is going to require me to pore over them as often as possible. I want to be a man of prayer, and prayer that is deep and intentional.

I’m quite nervous about these things because I am excellent at blowing committments. However, I’m determined to do life out of the overflow rather than reaching in to the depth of my human abilities which gets me nowhere.

At the end of my writing this morning, my only conclusion was: “God help me.”

  1. Hey man, I know what you mean about breaking commitments. I’ve done that too many times in the past. It’s almost like you get really excited about something, and then after a while you just get bored with it, and instead of pushing through those times, I just tend to let it drift away. So push through, and stick with it!
