Help Me Process This // cause I’m not real sure what to do with it

This is an all-skate. So this line was dropped on me the other day and I fee like its a trend that some believe is the “correct” path. A person said to me,
I love being a part of a church that freaks people out.
Don’t think snake handlers, think shock value. I don’t want to lead your thoughts too much, but I’m wondering how a line like this strikes you. Should this ever be a line that comes from my mouth?

my initial reaction is this would be from someone who was anti-chuch, anti-establishment, but that’s not necessarily true. not real sure how to process this. i guess the church should be multi-tasking: it should be an inviting place for seekers while its a challenging, sharpening place for its members.
