The Way of the Cross // what I will wrestle with today
The reader for today:
The way of the cross is too difficult and drifting into the wide road is too easy…in Lent we hear agin the story of our salvation, the great acts of God, looking particularly to the cross.
Are we burdened like this? I was just talking yesterday with Rusty saying that we have made it so easy in America to make converts, and in the process we are missing what it means to make disciples. That road is not a nice neat pathway that leads us to pearly gates and streets of gold. That journy is a one paved with the wrestlings of a spirit that must daily decide if it will sacrifice its own life for the glory of the risen one. A journey where I must daily reexamine my own story to discover if I have picked up my cross, the tool that will bring forth my own death, and decided to follow him obediently that day in loving the unlovely and in bringing hope to the broken and setting the prisoners free.
