90-10 Rule // what to do with it
Yesterday I had a chance to chat with biscuet. Its not often that we get to have a long conversation about what’s going on in our life, as it seems most of the time we have to talk about work related issues (which is humorous since he’s in on another continent).
Somehow we transitioned our conversation to mission and going overseas. As we talked about my heart in that I said that I truly believe there is a massive force of people in the US who are called overseas and never go for whatever reason. There is a statistic that shows that 90% of the world’s ministers, minister to 10% of the world’s population. And vice versa for the rest. The 90-10 rule breaks my heart. Then I made a comment I’ve never made before that shook me to the core. I don’t know where it came from, but it has been echoing in my head ever since I spoke it (copied directly from iChat):
but still the 90/10 rule is a bunch of crap, I’m convinced that God didn’t call that many people here, it seems to go against everything about His character, maybe I’m studying His character wrongly
What do you think? Does it really go against God’s character? Why does this statistic remain true?

No, i believe you are absolutely correct in that surely there are some of those in the 90% that are called to foreign missions. We are almost too blessed in America and that makes it too hard to give up our “stuff.” God’s Word makes it clear that His heart is for all people to know His love and forgiveness.
