writing…and its usually all jumbled and free flowing and comes to a head toward the end of that thought.

Sometimes it’s through writing, but sometimes it’s through making things. Most of the time though, it just sits in my head and gets crushed to smithereens with laziness…

starting from nothing… immersion in the idea or the process.
if it’s about playing with a concept, kick it around and see where it leads. look at it from every direction. get your hands around it. (i.e. What does “______” mean in this context and how can it be realized?)
if it’s is about learning a new way, play with the method. look at different but comparable examples and stretch the boundaries. ask other people, but not experts what they think could/would/should be possible (i.e. can I do this with that, here?)
and don’t be afraid to mess things up because you will.
