Uganda Update #1

We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you, because we have heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of the love you have for all the saints—the faith and love that spring from the hope that is stored up for you in heaven and that you have already heard about in the word of truth, the gospel that has come to you. All over the world this gospel is bearing fruit and growing, just as it has been doing among you since the day you heard it and understood God’s grace in all its truth. –Colossians 1.3-6

Paul did not start the church at Colossae, but he heard of their faith, he prayed for them and rejoiced that they were striving in their faith, pressing on to win the prize. I’ve read and heard these words many times, but they became real today as our team was able to worship with the believers in Buloba. It was a sweet time to see the body worshiping in a different way and to be reminded that while our expressions may be so different, we are worshiping the same God that Paul goes on to say is the very “hope of glory that is living in us.”

We’ve had a great opportunity to capture much footage so that we can share the stories of what we’ve seen, the ways in which Cornerstone has been a partner thus far in kingdom work and some of the next steps we will be taking.

Beginning today we began meeting with the leadership of the Buloba community church. Mainly, we listened: an element of conversation we are learning a lot about. But we are hearing their heart and what their vision is and asking questions that will help us determine our direction as we move forward together in ministry. This has been a mentally taxing trip as we really want to seek the best next steps for ministry with our family here. We are praying, talking, processing, praying, processing, praying, talking and seeking to know His good pleasing and perfect will. We are looking forward to the next few days and the conversation that is ahead.
