Uganda Update Numero Dos
The past couple of days here in Buloba, Uganda have looked like a mixture of an international summit and the filming of a documentary combined. But it’s turning out to be a beautiful blend as we’ve sought God’s direction for ministry in 2010.
Pastor Eva and Pastor Isaac have felt free to share about many of the challenges they are facing as they press forward in the ministry of sharing the gospel with the people in the community. While the context is certainly different, we are discovering that many of the trials they are working through are quite similar to those that we face at Cornerstone. It is encouraging and uniting to recognize this together and be able to say, “We are with you. We will journey together in this as we go forward.” The freedom to share openly about past struggles and successes and about dreams for the future have aided us in some clear direction for next year and even beyond. As we process our conversations each night we are growing more and more excited to come home and share the vision for the Kingdom work yet to be done here in this community.
Pastors Eva and Issac shared some of their story with us yesterday. It was amazing to hear how God was faithful and clear with His vision for this church being planted where it was through Pastor Eva and then moving in such a way to bring Pastor Isaac to aid in the leadership of this body of believers. Their strong faith that God will provide no matter what the circumstances was incredibly moving (and convicting as I think about how often I try to “help” my own causes as opposed to leaning in to His strength and will.)
There is never a dull moment as we are walking around filming. It is quite clear that the children know what being on camera means. (Unfortunately, we’ve been rather disruptive a couple of times as they are in class trying to do their work.) Much of what has been difficult to explain about the work in Buloba and life here in Uganda in the past is coming alive on film. Our hope is that this will help in generating a genuine excitement in the heart of our people about getting involved with us here.
Continue to pray that we will hear clearly what Holy Spirit is speaking and where He is leading us as we wrap up our time here. Pray that as we lay out our commitments on paper and trace out plans for our trips next year that we are not chasing our own will but the will of the Father.
